On a crisp February day, two ladies walk into a bar…
OK, so they weren’t in a bar, but a Northern California brewery when this story began. Armed with a love for craft beer, founders Elana and Amy stopped in on one of their favorite breweries, Anderson Valley Brewing Company in Boonville.
What started with an Oatmeal Stout and a Brother David’s Triple Abbey Style Ale led to a passionate conversation with The Nor Cal Beer Guy (who just happened to be at the brewery enjoying a beer) about the quality of beer produced in Northern California and the need for a Northern California brewery tour that matched the quality and value of the area's famed wine tours. Sure, there were plenty of breweries throughout Northern California to visit on your own, but they wanted to craft an unforgettable experience just for beer lovers like themselves: a one-day journey without worrying about where to go, how to get there and which beer you should try first. And so Brewery Adventures was born...
For months they dedicated themselves to research, attending beer festivals and stopping at all the breweries and brewery tours they could find. It was extremely grueling work, but they made it through. Elana and a fleet of knowledgeable and ridiculously fun guides now personally lead Brewery Adventures’ Nor Cal, San Francisco, and private brewery tours, fully equipped with a comfy bus (with a seperate driver), enough craft beer to shame your favorite can of college beer, and education to help you get in touch with your inner craft beer-lover. Favorite beer: Russian River's Pliny the Elder, Bear Republic’s Toyon Brut and Apex, 21st Amendment's Hop Crisis, and Lagunitas' Hop Stoopid
Elana got a head-start on beer-drinking when she traveled to Australia, where the legal drinking age is 18 — score! Once back in the states, it was hard not to notice the rampant cheap unappealing beer that seemed to overtake her college comrades. She quickly noticed the difference with well-crafted beer, a taste that isn’t quickly forgotten and gets better each time.
Full of well-crafted beer of not, Elana has been known to conquer the dance floor in cheesy dance competitions — when she’s not at a match for her shuffleboard, bowling or bocce ball leagues (seriously—she’s into every old man sport there is). She graduated Suma Cum Laude from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a BA in International Business and Small Business Management. She's also racked up almost 10 years of experience in online and social media marketing — fueled by a particular passion for nonprofits and corporate philanthropy.
